ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of covid-19 on marriage sustainability using selected families in Awka North Local Government Anambra State as a case study. The study adopted a survey research design and with the aid of convenient sampling techniques, 120 participants who are parents residing in Awka North Local Government Anambra State was enrolled for the study. A well structured questionnaire was issued to the respondent of which a total of 100 responses were validated for the study. Data was analyzed using simple percentage as well as frequencies and table. Hypothesis test was conducted using Chi-Square statistical tool (Spss v.2.3). Findings from the study revealed that there is a significant effect of covid-19 on family relationships. Finding from the study also revealed that there is a significant effect of covid-19 on marriage sustainability. The study therefore recommends that the Governing authorities in the country should endeavour to provide necessary assistance to families with low income during critical times as that of Covid-19. And the two partners in the family should try to understand times and seasons of their marital life, understand when to persevere, and how to handle critical times such like that of the Covid-19.
